The TIMpuls Full-Scale Compartment Fire Tests
The following research objectives were defined for the final five TIMpuls full-acale compartment fire tests under natural fire conditions:
- Validation of the results from previous component-scale experiments in a "real test structure" under natural fire conditions:
- Influence of combustible component surfaces on fire progression
- Behavior of fire protection cladding and its protection times under natural fire exposure
- Behavior of wooden structures regarding self-extinguishment and post-fire behavior
- Extinguishability of standard construction methods in timber construction
- Analysis of fire spread through the façade to the floor above the fire floor due to combustible surfaces in the room
- Investigation of the effects of fire protection measures in the joint and connection areas of components
- Evaluation of structural stability under natural fire exposure
- Assessment of compartmentation (fire and smoke resistance, thermal insulation) under natural fire exposure
- Review and final evaluation of the current timber construction guidelines in German building regulations
